Aims & Objectives

As set out in the trust deed, Phulashree Foundation's objectives span education, health, art & heritage, social welfare, community development and sustainable growth. They are grouped below by focus area for ease of reading; the wording follows the original trust deed.

Education & Research 6
  1. To establish school, college, educational institutions, research institutions, university, museum, dance troupe, music ensemble etc. for the purpose of welfare, development, promotion and enrichment of scientific pursuit, heritage, music, art, dance, archaeology and culture, and overall welfare of the Trust.
  2. To start, establish, run, takeover or manage and maintain schools, colleges, universities, research institutions, polytechnic institutes and the like, with an object to provide primary, middle, secondary, higher, undergraduate and post-graduate education to students and to promote scientific research by seeking recognition.
  3. To arrange and manage research institutions, training institutions, schools, colleges, vocational centres and other disciplines on subjects related to education, art, culture, heritage, archaeology, scientific pursuits, etc.
  4. To conduct workshops, training and provide facilities etc. for young students of dance, music, art, heritage, archaeology and culture etc.
  5. To promote literacy, cultural and other activities, by awareness programmes, adult education classes, lectures, competitions, symposiums, seminars, workshops and conferences.
  6. To cater to the educational needs of the helpless, neglected and street children.
Health & Medical Relief 6
  1. To open, found, establish, promote, set up, run, maintain, assist, finance, support and/or aid or help in setting up and/or maintaining or running hospitals, nursing homes, maternity homes, clinics, dispensaries, mobile hospital & ambulance, sanatorium and medical institutions of Ayurvedic, Homeopathic or Allopathic, surgery, acupuncture, acupressure, naturopathy or any other modes of treatment, and other establishments for providing medical relief and medicine facility to the poor, sick and infirm, and further to accept donations in this context.
  2. To start health clinics, hospitals, family welfare centres, health awareness and social awareness programmes, mobile medical vans with up-to-date ambulances, and emergency medical programmes.
  3. To conduct different medico schemes: blood donation camps, eye donation camps, health programmes, AIDS awareness camps, and relief and rehabilitation measures.
  4. To offer medical treatment, care and other help for elderly artists who have served society and cannot take care of themselves.
  5. To provide legal, medical aid, social and economic help and assistance to the needy people.
  6. To bring awareness against all kinds of narcotics and substance abuse.
Art, Culture, Heritage & Performing Arts 4
  1. To invite and conduct programmes and concerts with artists from different countries to share their dance, music, culture, tradition and heritage, and facilitate their interaction with classical performing artists, experts, folk dancers, folk musicians, painters and dancers from India — thus promoting Indian heritage, archaeology, manuscripts, art, culture, dance and music in the world in return.
  2. To take dance troupes, musical ensembles or teams of experts to other countries so that in future young artistes continue to enrich the world with what they have learnt.
  3. To enter into partnerships with important cultural organisations from all over the world for the development and enrichment of dance, music, heritage, archaeology, art and culture.
  4. To give awards to young as well as established artists, individuals or institutions in various fields.
Social Welfare, Inclusion & Disability Support 10
  1. To work for the benefit of differently-abled persons (physically or mentally challenged children and adults) and empower them to work, learn and share their talents on an international stage, so as to participate as equals in the inclusive growth and development of society.
  2. To provide material, medical as well as financial help to differently-abled persons (physically or mentally challenged children and adults).
  3. To make adequate arrangements and start rehabilitation centres for destitute persons, widows, old men and women, poor beggars, orphans, the physically challenged, the blind, deaf and dumb, the mentally challenged, persons affected by natural and/or man-made disasters, persons affected by HIV/AIDS, and other needy people.
  4. To help poor and indigent persons in the marriages of their sons and daughters by way of cash donation or otherwise, and to distribute clothes, food and other necessities of daily life amongst the poor, orphaned and indigent.
  5. To help and assist needy aged persons, and work for the promotion of the welfare of senior citizens and all such other activities.
  6. To provide food, clothes, medical aid and libraries to the general needy public.
  7. To create a sense of brotherhood, co-operation, mutual harmony, love and affection amongst the members of society and amongst the general public and the global community, nationally and internationally.
  8. To serve all Indians irrespective of creed, caste, language and religion, through all positive means.
  9. To protect the human rights of the general public at all levels.
  10. To provide means and methods for self-employment, and to work sincerely for mankind and humanity.
Community Development & Infrastructure 6
  1. To establish, maintain, manage and control shelters for the use of the general public at the time of festivals, social and educational functions, melas etc., with the permission of concerned authorities, and make best efforts for sanitation and security at those functions.
  2. To open, found, establish, promote, set up, run, maintain, assist, support and/or help various community development programmes and activities, and construct and develop dance and music training centres, community halls, marriage homes, night shelters, Sulabh Shauchalayas (convenient toilets), old age homes, orphanages, health care centres, charitable dispensaries, hospitals, libraries, reading rooms, yoga training centres, Mahila Ashrams, institutions for challenged persons, research institutions and other buildings and institutions for the use and welfare of the general public.
  3. To open, found, establish, promote, set up, run, maintain, assist, finance, support and/or aid or help in setting up the establishment, maintenance and/or running of Dharamshalas, tube wells, water tanks, roads, etc.
  4. To erect, construct, alter, maintain, sell, lease, mortgage, transfer, improve, develop, manage and control all or any part of the property or buildings of the Trust necessary or convenient for attaining the Trust's aims and objects.
  5. To purchase and acquire land and/or buildings in the name of the Trust for the upliftment and fulfilment of the Trust's aims and objects.
  6. To apply for and acquire land from the concerned authorities for the purpose of the welfare and charity of the Trust.
Sustainable Development, Environment & Rural Livelihoods 8
  1. To take up projects and create awareness regarding the importance of sustainable development, environmental protection, climate change, environmental science and inclusive growth, and to provide the necessary facilities for the same.
  2. To organise seminars, group discussions, research and training programmes in the fields of sustainable development, environmental protection, climate change, environmental science and inclusive growth.
  3. To organise seminars, group discussions, research and training programmes in the fields of sustainable mining, miners' health, miners' safety, and the empowerment of project-affected persons and families for sustainable livelihoods.
  4. To undertake a Social Forestry Programme and provide facilities to supply different plants by establishing a nursery.
  5. To undertake Agriculture and Rural Development Programmes and extension activities, and to undertake training of persons and institutions involved in watershed development, agro-forestry, soil conservation, watershed management and other matters pertaining to integrated rural development.
  6. To generate the required awareness for launching and mobilising the people's movement for Right to Education, Right to Information, Green India, Clean India, Health for All, and Consumer Awareness.
  7. To promote, aid, assist, help, finance, guide, organise, plan, undertake, develop, maintain, carry on, channelise and co-ordinate scientific research, development, demonstration, training and extension in the fields of agriculture, horticulture, agro-forestry, social forestry, tree and crop management, rainwater harvesting, reclamation of degraded and mine-affected lands, implementation of mine closure plans, forage production, bio-mass, irrigation, soil conservation, water and watershed management, dry-land farming, development of wasteland, new and renewable sources of energy, integrated pest management, community participation and environmental protection.
  8. To implement schemes for the development of women, children, disabled/challenged persons, aged persons, de-addiction, adult education, mining, environmental studies, eco-tourism, public health, tribal development, environmental protection, sustainable development, drinking water, hygiene, disaster preparedness/management, consumer awareness, family planning, anti-trafficking, HIV/AIDS, vaccination and population development, in coordination with government, non-government and international bodies.
Relief, Emergency Aid & Disaster Response 4
  1. To give, provide and/or render monetary and/or other help and assistance for the relief of persons and animals affected by natural and other calamities such as flood, fire, famine, cyclone, earthquake, storm, accident, drought, epidemic, and other natural and/or man-made disasters, including the unbearable cost of living.
  2. To provide emergency aid, personnel or financial assistance for immediate relief of the poor, medical relief, advancement of religion for public benefit, and advancement of any other object of general public utility.
  3. To organise and raise funds, including donations, towards the Chief Minister's/Prime Minister's Relief Funds.
  4. To give, provide and/or render food, medicine and other help and/or assistance in any shape or form to the poor, deserving and needy persons.
Governance, Resource Mobilisation & General Powers 10
  1. To begin, manage and operate various projects to fulfil the objectives of the Trust.
  2. To generate funds from Indian as well as foreign patrons and corporations to sustain the cultural, social, scientific research and sustainable development work of the Trust.
  3. To accept donations, grants, presents, gifts and other offerings in the shape of movable and/or immovable property for the attainment of the Trust's aims and objectives.
  4. To accept gifts and donations, either in cash or in kind, made by any philanthropic institution or person, corporate body, government or non-government body, or member of the public in India or abroad, in sympathy with the Trust's aims and objectives.
  5. To collect information, notices, notifications and policies from the Government, semi-government, national/international agencies and NGOs, and provide the same to the general public.
  6. To organise seminars, meetings, workshops, press conferences and other lawful gatherings from time to time.
  7. To take up effective, reasonable and lawful steps for the solution of problems relating to the general public.
  8. To receive financial and non-financial assistance from government/non-government organisations, international organisations, financial institutions and any other legal entity or individual.
  9. To apply to the relevant government and semi-government authorities, private and charitable organisations, and public and private sector companies for necessary clearances and permissions to avail reliefs, options and benefits as per law, in furtherance of the Trust's objects.
  10. To undertake programmes, projects and research that encourage the advancement of scientific knowledge, art, culture, heritage, economic, social and charitable purposes, and to do such other things and acts as are necessary or incidental to the attainment of any object of the Trust.
